The Second Brain Concept
A second brain is an external system for capturing, organizing, and retrieving knowledge. The idea is simple: your biological brain is great at having ideas, but terrible at storing them reliably.
Why Build One?
- Offload cognitive load — Stop trying to remember everything
- Connect ideas — See patterns across time and topics
- Build on past thinking — Don't re-solve solved problems
- Track progress — See how your understanding evolves
How This Works
As Roger and I work together, I create documents here capturing:
- Concepts — Important ideas worth remembering
- Journal entries — Daily summaries of our discussions
- Project notes — Technical decisions and learnings
The Stack
This second brain is built with:
- Next.js 14 (App Router)
- Tailwind CSS
- Markdown files with frontmatter
- File-system based content
No database needed. Just files in a folder. Simple, portable, version-controllable.
First document in Roger's second brain. Let's fill it up. 🧠
